Firewood Vouchers Available November 28

Low-cost firewood vouchers sales return on Tuesday, November 28. Vouchers are for one cord of wood and will be sold, until gone, Tuesday – Friday from 9 am to 2:30 pm at HSRC, 1910 California Street, in Eureka.  Voucher sales are on a first-come, first-serve basis; there is no wait list.  From Nov. 28 – Dec. 1, vouchers are only available to eligible households who have not purchased HSRC vouchers in 2017. Depending on sales volume the first week, beginning Dec. 5 multiple vouchers per household may be available.   Eligible households are those with an individual age 55 or older and living on low to moderate income. Vouchers are priced on a sliding scale ($78 – $121 incl. tax) based on household size and monthly income. Payment can be made by cash or local check only. Proof of age and income are required. Once purchased, vouchers can be redeemed at the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Work Alternative Program (SWAP) lot in Eureka starting Dec. 2. Delivery is available; delivery fees are based on location.
